In 1959, it was named Nanjing Art College and the academic system was changed to four years, thus completing the establishment of the school. In 1967, it was relocated to No. 15 Huju North Road, Nanjing. In 2007, it was included in the construction of provincial key universities. In 2005, the school signed a campus replacement agreement with the neighboring Nanjing Institute of Engineering, with the campus located at No. 74 Beijing West Road.
