Site Description: Changzhou Institute of Technology is located in the economically developed, culturally and educationally prosperous, convenient transportation, and beautiful and rich historical city of Changzhou in Jiangnan. The school was founded in 1978 and has now developed into an application-oriented undergraduate university with distinct characteristics in disciplines such as engineering, literature, science, economics, management, and education. Changzhou Institute of Technology was formerly known as Changzhou "721" Industrial University, Changzhou Workers' University, Changzhou Vocational University, and Changzhou Institute of Industrial Technology. In 1999, with the approval of the Ministry of Education and the Jiangsu Provincial Government, Changzhou Light Industry Workers' University was merged into Changzhou Institute of Industrial Technology. In March 2000, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Changzhou Institute of Industry and Technology merged with Changzhou University of Machinery and Metallurgy to form Changzhou Institute of Technology, becoming the first local ordinary university in Jiangsu Province to be upgraded from a municipal university to a bachelor's degree. In July 2003, with the approval of the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, Changzhou Normal College (preparatory) was incorporated into Changzhou Institute of Technology. In 2004, the school became the authority to confer bachelor's degrees, and in 2006, it passed the undergraduate teaching level evaluation of the Ministry of Education with excellent results.
