Yangzhou University is a key comprehensive university in Jiangsu Province and the first university in China to run a school by merger. In 1992, Yangzhou Normal University, Jiangsu Agricultural University, Yangzhou Institute of Technology, Yangzhou Medical College, Jiangsu Water Conservancy Engineering College, Jiangsu Commercial College and other six universities merged to form Yangzhou University. Changshu Institute of Technology is located in Changshu, a famous national historical and cultural city and an international garden city with many talents and beautiful scenery. Its predecessor was Suzhou Normal College founded in 1958 and Changshu Vocational University established in 1984. Jiangsu Normal University of Technology was founded in 1984 and is the only independent undergraduate institution in Jiangsu Province that was established earlier in China with the main task of cultivating vocational education teachers.
