Formerly known as Harbin Railway Engineering School, which was founded in 1959, it was a national key vocational school. In 2002, it was promoted to a vocational college. It was jointly built by the Education Department of Heilongjiang Province and China Railway Third Engineering Group Co., Ltd. It is under the jurisdiction of China Railway Engineering Corporation, a Fortune 500 company, and is the only vocational college under the headquarters. It is one of the key construction units of 10 demonstration higher vocational colleges in Heilongjiang Province, and is the "Urban Facility Talent Training Center" for revitalizing the old industrial base in Northeast China in Heilongjiang Province.
