Nanjing Medical University is a key university under the jurisdiction of Jiangsu Province. The school was founded in 1934 and was named Jiangsu Provincial Medical and Political College. It is one of the earliest higher education institutions in China to carry out graduate education. In 1957, it was renamed Nanjing Medical College. In 1962, it was listed as one of the first six year medical colleges in China. In 1981, it was approved as one of the first batch of doctoral and master's degree awarding units in China. In 1993, it was renamed Nanjing Medical University.

Nantong Vocational University was founded in 1973 and is a comprehensive full-time general higher education institution approved by the provincial government and the Ministry of Education, with a focus on engineering, humanities, management, and arts. The school is located in Nantong, the "first city in modern China", with a total of 4 campuses, covering a total area of over 1000 acres and a building area of over 300000 square meters. China University of Mining and Technology is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education, and is one of the key universities under the national "211 Project", "Project 985" and "Innovation Platform Project for Superior Disciplines". The school has a graduate school. The predecessor of China University of Mining and Technology was Jiaozuo Railway and Mining School, founded in 1909, and later renamed Jiaozuo Institute of Technology. In 1950, based on Jiaozuo Institute of Technology, the first higher education institution in mining industry in New China, China Institute of Mining and Technology, was established in Tianjin. In 1952, the departments of higher education institutions nationwide were adjusted, and the mining departments of Tsinghua University, Tianjin University, and Tangshan Railway University were merged into the China Institute of Mining and Technology. In 1953, it moved to Beijing and was renamed Beijing Institute of Mining and Technology. In 1960, it was designated as a national key university. During the Cultural Revolution, it moved to Sichuan and was renamed Sichuan Institute of Mining and Technology. In 1978, with the approval of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council, the school was rebuilt in Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province, and the name of China Institute of Mining and Technology was restored. It was once again recognized as one of the 88 key universities in China. In 1988, it was renamed China University of Mining and Technology. In 1997, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the Beijing Campus of China University of Mining and Technology was established. In 2000, it was transferred to the direct management of the Ministry of Education.

Hehai University is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education with a 94 year history of education, characterized by water conservancy, engineering as the main subject, and coordinated development of multiple disciplines. Southeast University is a national key university directly administered by the Central Government and directly under the Ministry of Education. It is one of the key universities under the "Project 985" and "211 Project". It is one of the first universities that can be granted doctor's, master's, bachelor's degrees, certified professors and associate professors and self approved doctoral supervisors by the State Council. The school is located in the historical and cultural city of Nanjing, covering an area of over 6300 acres. It has campuses such as the Four Archways, Kowloon Lake, and Dingjiaqiao.

Nanjing University is located in the ancient capital of Jinling, which is renowned for its long history and outstanding reputation. Its predecessor was Sanjiang Normal School, founded in 1902. It went through historical periods such as Liangjiang Normal School, Nanjing Higher Normal School, National Southeast University, Fourth Sun Yat sen University, National Central University, and National Nanjing University, and was renamed Nanjing University in 1950. Approved by the People's Government of Yunnan Province and the Ministry of Education, Yunnan Medical College was officially established in May 2003. The predecessor of Yunnan Medical College was Yunnan Provincial Health School, which was founded in 1936. At present, the school is located in Kunming, which is full of spring all year round, covering a total area of 633 acres. The Provincial Rural Doctor Correspondence General School, Provincial Remote Medicine Center, and Provincial General Practitioner Transformation Training Center are also built in this school.
