Site Description: Baotou Vocational and Technical College is a full-time higher vocational college approved by the Ministry of Education. It is located in Baotou, the largest industrial city in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and a national civilized city. The predecessor of the college was Baotou Mechanical Industry School, a national key ordinary secondary vocational school established in 1956 to cultivate professional and technical talents for the national defense industry. The college was originally under the jurisdiction of China National Ordnance Industry Corporation. In 1998, it was approved by the Ministry of Education to establish Baotou Vocational and Technical College. In 2004, it was designated by six ministries including the Ministry of Education as one of the institutions responsible for cultivating and training national skilled and scarce talents; In 2007, it was designated as one of the first batch of vocational education and training bases for national defense technology and industry by the National Defense Technology and Industry Commission; In 2008, it was designated by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance as a construction institution under the "National Demonstration Higher Vocational College Construction Plan" and became one of the 100 demonstration higher vocational college construction units in the country.
