Nanhua University is a multidisciplinary university formed by the merger of Central South Institute of Technology, formerly affiliated to China nuclear industry Corporation, Hengyang Medical College, formerly affiliated to Hunan Province, and the Sixth Institute of nuclear industry. It implements the management system jointly established by the National Defense Science, Technology and Industry Commission and the People's Government of Hunan Province. The Chinese People's Liberation Army (Navy) sets up a reserve officer selection and training base in the school.
