Shandong Institute of Physical Education is the only independent higher education physical education institution in Shandong Province. In 1978, it was renamed Shandong University of Economics and became one of the first units in the country to obtain the right to confer bachelor's degrees. In 1993, it became a master's degree granting authority unit. In 2009, it was confirmed as the authorized construction unit for the doctoral degree. After more than 50 years of development and accumulation, the school has now become an ordinary higher finance and economics institution with a focus on economics and management disciplines, and a coordinated development of multiple disciplines such as literature, law, science, engineering, and education.
