Site Description: Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology is located in Baotou, one of the first batch of civilized cities and beautiful grassland steel cities in China. It was founded in 1956 and was originally known as Baotou Iron and Steel Industrial School and Baotou Construction Engineering School. In 1958, the two schools merged to form Baotou Institute of Technology. In 1960, it was renamed Baotou Iron and Steel College, under the former Ministry of Metallurgical Industry. In 1998, it was under the management of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and became a higher education institution jointly built by the central and local governments. In 2000, the Inner Mongolia coal industry School was incorporated and renamed as Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology in 2003.
