In March 2000, Maoming College was formed by the merger of the former Guangdong Higher Vocational College of Petroleum and Chemical Engineering and Maoming Education College, becoming a provincial-level undergraduate institution in Guangdong Province. It implemented a provincial-city co construction and provincial-based management system.
