Site Description: East China University of Political Science and Law (formerly known as East China University of Political Science and Law) was one of the first batch of higher political and legal institutions established in New China. In June 1952, with the approval of the East China Military and Political Commission, the Law Department, Political Department, and Social Department of 9 universities including St. John's University, Fudan University, and Nanjing University merged to form the East China School of Political Science and Law. Due to various reasons, the school was merged into the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences in 1958; In 1963, it was re established and enrolled the following year; Enrollment ceased in 1966 and was officially abolished in 1972. In March 1979, with the approval of the State Council, the school resumed for the second time. In March 2007, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the school was officially renamed as East China University of Political Science and Law.
