Site Description: Northeast Agricultural University was founded in Harbin in 1948. It was originally called Northeast Agricultural University. It was the first ordinary agricultural college founded by the CPC in the Jiefang District. Liu Da, a well-known educator and the first mayor of Harbin, was the first president of the university. Since its establishment, the university has been under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Northeast Administrative Committee, the Ministry of Higher Education of the People's Republic of China, the Ministry of Agriculture of the People's Republic of China, the Agricultural Commission of Heilongjiang Province, and the Department of Education of Heilongjiang Province. In 1981, it was designated as a key university under the provincial government of Heilongjiang Province. In 1994, it merged with the Agricultural Economic Management Cadre College of Heilongjiang Province to form Northeast Agricultural University. In 1996, it became one of the first batch of key universities under the national "211 Project".
