Its predecessor was the Pingdingshan Urban Construction Environmental Protection School established in 1983 and the Henan Branch of Wuhan Urban Construction College established in 1985; In 1993, the Henan Branch of Wuhan Urban Construction College was renovated into Henan Urban Construction Higher Vocational College; In April 2000, the two schools merged to establish the new Henan Urban Construction College; In March 2002, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Pingdingshan Institute of Technology was upgraded to a undergraduate institution; In November 2008, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it was renamed Henan Urban Construction College. Over the past 25 years since its establishment, the school has trained over 30000 professional and technical talents of all levels and types for the country.
